The solution: implementing rail and biofuel trucking to lower the overall transport footprint

Gerome and his team developed a suite of transport solutions to help lower the transport footprint of customer shipments. This meant that Hillebrand Gori’s customers could move their shipments more efficiently while reducing their environmental impact. So what did Gerome implement…

• Increased rail transport – Where railway services are available, Gerome increased the percentage of wine shipments moving via rail. This makes it possible to lower emissions compared to traditional road transport.
• Biofuel trucking across France – By partnering with trucking companies committed to spending less emissions, Gerome helped convert fleets of trucks to use biofuels. This meant that container movements within France have a reduced carbon footprint.
• Using sail ships – when possible, Gerome and his team place pallets on sail ships which use the power of the wind to function for the majority of the sea journey where possible.

The outcome? Customers now have access to a more efficient logistics network, helping them meet their own emission goals while benefiting from optimized transport solutions.

The results: a more emission efficient future for beverage logistics

Through Gerome’s leadership and proactiveness, Hillebrand Gori has already achieved significant progress in lowering transport related emissions:

• 43% of all wine collections in France are now completed using biofuel trucks.
• The target is set for 50% biofuel truck usage by the end of 2025.
• Rail transport has increased from 30% to 50%, significantly lowering emissions.
• Sail ship use when possible for deep sea or transatlantic shipments
