GoGreen Plus and allocated CO₂e reduced transport options for beverage supply chains

Lower allocated CO₂e emissions without disrupting your supply chain

Reducing transport-related CO₂e emissions is becoming a priority for wine, beer and spirits importers, but it needs to work within your existing operations. We can support this by integrating emission-reduced transport options into your current routes, helping you balance lead times, cost predictability and beverage protection. This allows you to take practical steps to reduce your allocated CO₂e emissions while maintaining product quality and supply chain consistency.

What GoGreen Plus* means for your transport

GoGreen Plus* is a value added service that allocates alternative fuels and technologies within the logistics network via a book & claim system. This includes solutions such as marine fuels with lower lifecycle CO₂e emissions compared to conventional fossil marine fuels, allocated through a book & claim approach. This does not necessarily mean your specific shipment is transported using those fuels, but it enables you to support the allocation of lower fossil fuel use within the network through book & claim allocation.

How CO₂e reductions are calculated in practice

Lifecycle CO₂e reductions are calculated by comparing alternative fuels used within the network to conventional fossil fuels across selected transport legs. The resulting reduction in lifecycle CO₂e emissions is calculated against standard fuel usage and allocated through a verified methodology. This allows you to reduce your reported CO₂e emissions linked to your transport activity without changing your established routes or handling processes.

Why this matters for your operations

Sustainability requirements are increasingly linked to compliance, reporting and customer expectations. By integrating emission-reduced transport options into your supply chain, you can support your efforts to address evolving regulations such as EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime, while maintaining visibility and control over your shipments. This helps you respond to market expectations without adding complexity to your logistics setup or compromising service reliability.

Where this fits in your supply chain

Emission-reduced transport can be applied across different stages of your beverage supply chain, from bulk movements to bottled shipments closer to the point of sale. Whether you are managing seasonal demand, repositioning inventory or entering new markets, this approach allows you align transport decisions with operational priorities and allocated CO₂e‑reduction objectives based on available data.

Supported by data and visibility tools

Understanding the impact of your transport decisions is key. With digital tools such as our Carbon Calculator and emissions reporting within myHillebrandGori, you can compare transport options, review CO₂e emission estimates and track performance over time. This gives you a consistent basis for decision-making and supports internal reporting requirements across your wine, beer and spirits supply chain.

A practical approach to CO₂e reduced transport allocation

There is no single solution to reducing transport-related CO₂e emissions, especially across complex global beverage supply chains. We focus on practical measures that can be implemented today, combining route planning, modal choices and the usage of alternative fuels. This allows you take practical measures to reduce allocated and reported CO₂e emissions while maintaining the quality, timing and compliance requirements of your wine, beer and spirits shipments.

Start with a clear view of your transport related CO₂e emissions

Understanding your current emissions is the first step toward reducing them. We can support you with data, route analysis and tailored transport options that align with your operational priorities.

* GoGreen Plus is a value-added service to a DHL shipment contributing to decarbonization measures within DHL’s logistics network. By using alternative fuels and/or technologies DHL reduces the usage of fossil fuels in the mode of transport used for the GoGreen Plus shipment. This does not necessarily mean that the specific shipment is physically transported with the assets using these fuels or technologies. Further information, e.g. on concrete decarbonization measures is available
